Once again I was struck with
how friendly, respectful and giving the cousins and our extended
family continue to be. One way we could tell that 7 years
had passed since the last reunion, was all the new children and
how much the others had grown. Another way, and much sadder,
was remembering all the aunts and uncles, mothers and fathers
who were there in 1997 but had passed by 2004.
Of the cousins that have come to the reunion,
Pam and I have always had the most catching up to do since we
were not around to share in the growing up and the family togetherness
of having our extended family close by. While I would not
trade the childhood I experienced, I am reminded at the reunion
of how much I missed by not being around all of you.
Thank you for willingness to get together
and please remember that our door is always open. (I don't
want to wait another seven years to see many of you, so you may
be getting a call in the next year or so.) |
