2007 Reunion Memories

Laurie:

I’d like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who organized and participated in the Whittington Family Reunion this summer.  It gave everyone a wonderful opportunity to get together after all these years and reconnect.

We had three days of swimming, eating the wonderful food that everyone brought and just plain sitting around and talking.  We also visited the dinosaur park where you should be able to see the dinosaur tracks at the bottom of the shallow riverbed.  It was our unfortunate luck to visit right after the area was flooded with rain and the river was too high to see the tracks.  Better luck next time, I guess.  We still enjoyed walking along the river and throwing rocks into the river.  An unplanned treat was the discovery of Big Rock Park.  I’m not sure who found it, but it was a pretty cool place to go swimming.  A word to the wise next year….bring your swimming shoes.  Those rocks are sharp on bare feet!  A small group of us also went to the Fossil Rim Wildlife Park.  It was a kick to see all the animals up close and personal!

During planning, three days seemed like enough time to visit and learn about each other again, but I really think that a few more days would not have been a bad thing.  I know that I didn’t get as much time to visit as I would have liked, and I think most people would agree.  And of course, being the adventurous person I am, I would have liked to go to more of the museums and shopping.  Three days was just not enough!

Overall, I believe a good time was had by all.  There is talk about having another reunion  next year.  I may or may not be able to attend but I encourage all of you to go again.  It is well worth the time and effort put forth.
